The Far Away Snail

The Far Away Snail
by

Josiah Dyches

One day, the Cheetah was making fun of Snail for being so slow upon his feet. The Snail
was greatly annoyed by the Cheetah's never stopping teasing, so he offered to race. Cheetah
laughed and whispered,"It won't be a fair contest," but he wearily agreed. They decided that Lion was to set the course and Fox was to be judge. "Ready, set, go!" yelled Fox. Although Snail received a head start, Cheetah was soon ahead. "Wait up!" cried poor Snail.
Meanwhile, Cheetah was proudly bounding towards the finish. He stopped to talk to Hippo and Tiger. "I'm winning a race against Snail", he proclaimed. "Good day." He soon went to sleep because of his tired muscles. Meanwhile, Snail was catching up. He passed a snoozing Cheetah and won. Cheetah awoke and immediately knew what happened. "Snail, you fool!" but Snail was too far away to hear.

I spit it out on the table and Mama thought it was a piece of pearled couscous. Holding my tooth

These two leaves, from left to right, are a Holly and a Hemlock

and are our evergreens.

From left to right, a Sweetgum and a Red Maple.

They are deciduous.
